I never expected to watch a movie centered around cannibals, but here I am. I believe that Taylor Russell and Timothee Chalamet are promising young talents in Hollywood. So naturally, a film starring both of them piqued my interest.
Bones and All is based on the novel Bones & All by Camille DeAngelis and is a coming-of-age story centered around a disenfranchised teenage female cannibal Maren Yearly as she goes on a journey to find her birth mother.
+Positives
- The road trip aspect of the film.
- The film's cinematography.
- Maren's and Lee's romance showcases being able to connect with someone who understands you and what you're going through on a personal and emotional level. The mentorship between them.
- The majority of the changes from the book to the film were great.
-Negatives
- There were moments in the film when the exact passage of time wasn't exactly clear.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the film and I believe that in the future the film will be considered a cult classic. There's a lot to unpack from the film and gems presented within it as well.
Honestly, I would recommend this film because I think it has a lot to say. However, if you're squeamish and don't care for gore then this film may not be for you.
