[List] Ranking the Star Trek Kelvin Timeline Films

I want to preface this ranking by saying that I enjoyed all of the Kelvin Timeline films despite their flaws, and I would like to see a continued continuation of the Kelvin Timeline whether it be in novels, comics, or films. Right now Kelvin Timeline projects have screeched to a halt. Furthermore, I hope that if Paramount is actually able to get another Kelvin Timeline movie off the ground that the script is strong and good. Without further ado, onto the ranking: 3. Star Trek (2009) This is the film that kicked off the resurgence of the Star Trek brand and it's a solid first entry. The movie was cast well and the film's score was phenomenal. I believe that Spock/Uhura being romantically paired together makes perfect logical sense and I love them together as a couple. However, despite the subtle hints during the movie that hinted there was something more to their relationship beyond that of a teacher and student, it was disappointing that we didn't get to see how they fell...

[Review] Snapshot

Summary: Picture this--you're a photojournalist on assignment in the Bahamas fulfilling your job duties and enjoying the tropical scenery. However, unbeknownst to you, your camera ends up capturing something quite scandalous. The next that you know your life as you know it is completely upended in more ways than one. That's the situation that the main heroine of the novel Kennedy Wade finds herself in.   The premise of the novel instantly hooks and draws you in. Kennedy Wade is a great lead character who you want to root for and throughout the novel you come to fear for her safety and wellbeing. The novel is a real page-turner I found the book hard to put down.  The novel also touches upon and provides some good social commentary in regards to the media, people in powerful positions, and politics. I enjoyed the novel overall. The only aspect that I felt was a bit of a letdown was the ending. I didn't feel as if the ending provided a satisfactory conclusion. ...

[Opinion] Vampire Academy & Second Chances

In Hollywood, sometimes second chances are often hard to come by, but there are also times when a property has the fortune of getting a second chance, and hopefully the second adaptation will yield much better results. Way back in the late 2000s and early 2010s I read the Vampire Academy book series. I even purchased the graphic novel adaptations as well. I enjoyed the book series and this was also a time in pop culture where vampires and vampire-related properties were experiencing a resurgence.  The first adaptation of the book series came in the form of a theatrical film released in 2014 which adapted the first novel from the series. It should come as no surprise that the film was a commercial flop and embarrassingly bad. I mean, the trailers for the film told you everything that you needed to know. Fast forward to the year 2022, and a new adaptation in the form of a tv series this time around is about to premiere soon, and I must say despite some departures from the book, the s...

[Opinion] Normani & the Difficulties of Being a Black Popstar

I'm the type of person who enjoys talented artists who care about their craft and artistry, and Normani is one of the artists that I've been following the career of since she went solo after Fifth Harmony's hiatus. However, the journey so far hasn't been an easy one for Normani and her supporters.  It seems to always happen without fail that black female artists are never given the same amount of grace compared to their respective contemporaries. From the moment Normani went solo she was already getting compared to Beyonce solely because she's black and can sing and dance. This in turn placed a huge burden on Normani to not only live up to these unrealistic expectations, but it also stifled her in a way. She has talked about how in the beginning she wasn't enjoying the creative process because she was worried about not alienating anyone and making sure her music was 'black enough' and 'pop enough'.  From the get-go, some fans, the public, and t...

[List] My Top 10 Favorite Saved by the Bell Episodes

Saved by the Bell (1989) Peter Engel Productions//NBC Productions (NBC) I grew up watching reruns of Saved by the Bell, and I decided to list my top 10 favorite episodes from the show. Therefore, there will be no episodes from Good Morning, Miss Bliss. 10. "Drinking and Driving" This particular episode presented an important message in a manner that didn't come across as preachy and it really resonated. The message presented was loud and clear and so were the potential consequences of drinking and driving. 9. "All in the Mall" I enjoyed all of the hijinks that ensued during this episode. Imagine spending the night at the mall to buy some concert tickets.  8. "The Wicked Stepbrother (Part 2)" Eric was a good foil to Zack and gave him the runaround. Also, it was nice that Lisa was able to have her own serious love interest that lasted for more than one episode.  7. "Fourth of July" I enjoyed the overall premise of this episode. For example, t...

[Opinion] The Era of the Music Superstar is Dead

I think in this current modern era of music we can confidently say that the era of the music superstar as we once knew it is dead. Now, before you think I'm being an alarmist I would like to bring forth my rationale for thinking this way that will put everything into perspective. 1.) Lack of Artist Development Back in the day, when an artist was signed to a label they went through a process known as artist development to aid with nurturing their talent(s) and career before they were presented to the public. Nowadays, artist development is severely lacking and is not invested in as much as it once was and artists are thrown on stage completely unprepared and it shows.  2.) How Music is Now Consumed  Physical albums used to reign supreme but now it's all about streaming. Recording artists are not making as much money off of their recorded music anymore. Today, it's about playlisting on streaming platforms. The average length of songs has also gotten shorter to accommodate...

[Opinion] These Are the Top 3 Representative Male Idol Groups of the 4th Generation

From top to bottom: Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and Tomorrow X Together Most people agree the 4th generation of K-pop idols started in earnest in 2018 which means since we're four years into the next generation, there are surely some frontrunners who stand out amongst the crowd. It's no secret that 4th gen male idols at least in South Korea are not doing as well digitally on the charts while their physical album sales are high. However, I believe the following three groups represent the 4th generation of male idols:
